Dock bait well for shrimp

I am looking to make a bait pen to keep shrimp in it. Maybe for a couple of days. I want to tie it to the dock.

Does anybody have plans to make a bait well. I would like to keep about 4 quarts of shrimp in there.

Interesting that you just asked this. I started thinking about the same thing for baitfish. So I’m interested in any replies. I know nothing about legality, how well it would work for fish, and if anyone has good plans for building one.

I’m looking at setting up some 40 gallon aquariums in my garage. Maybe someone has experience with this as well…

Guys - My son has 2 - 100 gallon water tanks that he has been prepping for bait tanks. He has cut the opening in the top and was thinking to put a hinge with plexi glass on top for access. If yall are interested you can contact him for more info. Private message me on this site for his number and name if you want it.

Get a 5-6 gal bucket or even a trashcan. Drill lots of holes. Wrap a pool noodle near top. Cover. Works great. Have 2 at my dock.:sunglasses:

Marshgrass that is what I have been using for a couple of years. I got the top for the 5 gallon bucket for Bass Pro. I was looking for something that might be 2 to 3 times bigger. BTW, the one that I have, i tie wrapped a 16 oz weight to the bottom to keep it floating straight up and down.

I have a plastic drum cut in 1/2 with the old lid sewed to the bottom with zip ties. I drilled 1/2 holes all around and on bottom I bolted a brick to the bottom and zipped a pool noodle around the top. Cut a door in the top and installed a latch to keep the otters out. It will keep shrimp and mud minners for weeks off the dock! T home I have 2 275 gal tanks I keep herring in for striper fishing Pump the water tru a 5 gal bucket filled with pillow fill and holes in the bottom to areate
