I have been reading lots of posts lately and haven’t posted in awhile. My last couple trips have been tough, so figured it was time to toss in a recap.
Summer fishing has been good and started with a healthy mix of fat trout and reds. The trout bite slowed and red bite improved towards end of June. Catch quality a bit higher with live menhaden. It’s been a tough year for the Hadens but eventually find em deep into Morris island towards ocean.
Last few trips have been in cooler waters at the jetties and stayin out of the shallower creeks. The water has been so hot on some days I’d boil all my Haden’s while in shallower spots. Oh well, just pack em in the freezer for winter time.
Here are some pics from last few trips prior to dog days of summer. Starting to realize it pays to have a variety of baits out there every time. Seems mudders and crabs quarters have been the ticket recently…
All below caught on live Haden’s on Carolina rig or free lined except the sheep caught on fiddlers. It was my first attempt at a local sheepshead spot and managed 2 sheeps and a black drum…sheep action can be humbling but def. worth it once they hit the grill!
