dolphin-d,i emailed native watercraft and just got a reply this morning.becky myers said that the “16” is in production, but they may not have one by the time of the kayak show.she also said the thwart
behind the front seat in the picture is removeable.i had wondered about this.she went on to say the prototype paddled much like the 14.5 with more speed, and even more rock solid stability.
apparently the 16 doesnt paddle as well as the 14.5.a couple of guys that work there or know people who do paddled the prototype, and said it was a barge.didnt paddle bad,but not like the 14.5.now im back to the 14.5.oh well.atleast you have those in stock.im comin to see you saturday dolphin…i hope.
Are 14.5’s in stock?I’m looking for another paddling boat for creeks.
Can 12ft be fitted with tandem seats? It would be easier to transport in my truck.
yes he had them in stock, and i believe he got more in.no you cant put 2 seats in the 12.the 14.5 is your best bet, best of both worlds.it will do everything the 12 will do…faster…just as stable…and you have the option of the second seat…925.00
its what im going with if the money will just cooperate.see ya on the water.
no way bud…fishin around shell beds and such lookin for bigguns.ill take the plastic myself.besides for the little weight you save and some cosmetic appearance…its not worth payin over twice as much for it.go see dolphin and get the 14.5.youll be glad you did.plus when i get mine,we can meet up and talk about how lucky we are that we made the right choice.on kayakfishingstuff.com most favor the 14.5.i actually wanted the 16 til i found out some that paddled the prototype said it was better as a 2 man,not so great solo.plus, like you i think 14.5 is as big as i can go.go see dolphin.
now i read today that a couple of guys who have paddled the 12 say it paddles and tracks great.plenty of room…and like stickman said…easier to transport.(ultimate 12 that is)
Went to Time Out yesterday. Sat in Ultimate 12 and has all the room I need for one. The 14.5 looked like a lot of boat for one to handle and a lot to ask of my F-150 to transport. Since I already have a Hobie Tandem, I’ll likely go for the 12. Will try to “sea trial” both this Saturday at JI kayak festival.

Can you help me out with an inexpensive low end yak? I want to try it out, hear nothing but good stuff about 'em,(and you) but cant afford the big money yaks at this time… start with the basics( like nikon and the “fisher price” model) and upgrade down the road if it is to my liking. Used preferably, being 6’2 and 240 mix in straight nitro for adrenaline… am i going to be too limited?

My best price "entry level" boat is the Tarpon 100. $500 normally, on sale this weekend for 450. (I have one left, in yellow)
A friend of mine is trying to sell a used Tarpon 120 this weekend at the show, I think she has it at the used boat sale by the registration tent.
