Dolphin Run

Heard from a buddy that they have been killing them in NC. Think they might have passed us during all that windy weather a week ago . Still a few around but nothing like the last few years.

and no wahoo caught yesterday in the Classic.

Yep. Wahoo will be here, but not sure the dolphin will show like the last couple years. I hope I’m wrong

Most of those boats were fishing off the ledge, so no big suprise there…

Dang dolphin bite has been pretty good off MI the last few weeks fishing north of the hole

It will pick back up next week.

true, most boats are way off the ledge ,but there should have been some at the scale , 50-60lbers were caught off the ledge back in the day in tournaments, rarely see them anymore.

Sure miss the days of a box full of dolphin, wahoos, and yellowfins
by noon, all within a week of Mothers Day…

they are still here in great numbers! 5-14-16 was on fire. fish were scattered in between 250-800 ft. pushed out and found a color change, small weed line in 1650 feet of water. green on one side, and beautiful blue on the other side! fish were stacked up, every boat stayed busy! people were leaving because they were tired of catching dolphin! and they were all quality gaffers! it was a great day on the 36 contender-- sea scraper! brought 16 home!

Yep, we were there Saturday as well. That line was long and quite productive. Saw probably100-150 “flipper” dolphins moving through together as well. Very cool.

According to DNR Don Hammond this has been the best year in a long time. We have already surpassed last year using July 2015 numbers

Capt. Gregg C.Newman

Crappy weather has kept many boats on the hill. Seen some big catches, and some not so big catches. Seems like an average year to me.

That will be the end of the mahi last year best cobia year in a long time so this year they said we caught to many last year so cutting us back this year.

I haven’t heard anyone boating 60+ fish this year but DNR says the numbers are up and the fish seem bigger, earlier.
