Dolphins

I was fishing around Edisto State Park Saturday and came across a group of dolphin far up the creeks. This made me wonder if that is good or bad. At first I thought it was a sign that there is bait in that area, but then decided that any redfish in the area probably are spooked. What do y’all think? Do you leave and find another area if you seen dolphin?

Dolphin are predator #1

The shallow creeks & flats get warmer quicker than deep water on a sunny day

If Dolphin are around most likely fish won’t bite. They also mess up shrimp baiting. Sometimes when they are in small creeks and you get real quiet and still you can see them put on some pretty good shows.

With Dolphin it’s best to make the best of watching them or move on if you want to fish.

Mark every spot you see dolphins feeding. Remember the time and tide and go an hr before or after and it is usually fishy.

I saw a big school of dolphin way up bass creek back in beginning of December in about 3’ of water. Had a steady trout bite until they showed up.
