Don't know where to post this . . .

Don’t know where to post this but as most of “stuff” is offshore, I thought this would be the place to start. I am in the process of building a new house and would like to build a rod storage rack for all my rods in the garage - I have (believe it or not - where did it all come from?) about 20 offshore and live bait rods, 4 large spinning rods, and 8 smaller light SW to light FW spinning rods. For once I would like to have them some place other than leaning in the odd corners. I know the offshore stuff will need hole spacing at least 9" apart. Does anyone have any plans or pics that I can plagiarize? Also, I’ve got more tackle than I can store properly and am looking for ideas for a shop tackle locker to store everything including gaffs, castnets, landing nets, line spools, life preservers, etc. My garage will have 15’+ ceilings. HELP!

Thanks so much,
P-Man

I doubt this is what you’re looking for but since my garage is as exactly as it sounds, a garage, I used 4" nails and made racks for the rods to lay on…I think I have enough for 8 rods as of now just haven’t finished the rest. Works like magic. As for tackle no advice there.

Helped a neighbor clean out his garage so we could work on the boats. He had like 20 different rods standing around getting all tangled with each other. Had some pegboard on one wall that worked great. For the short rods we put 2 hooks close together and hung the rods upside down by the reel and put a peg a little further down to hold the rod straight. The long rods laid horizontal across 3 pegs.

I have a shed and just used nails.

Umm, you gonna eat that?

Thousands have died to save my freedom. Only one has died to save my soul!

the shed and nails should be reserved for the weedeater.where I am,the salt air will ruin you unless its climate controlled.

I bought the rod holders that are already on a frame in 3’s,screwed 2 1X4’s to the wall, then the rodholders.

very simple.

I cut some 2" pvc into 3.5" sections and spaced them on 12" centers on a 8’ 2x4. Put hooks in between…make 2 and hang them about 5-6’ apart on the ceiling. rod butt goes in the pvc and hng the rod on the hook… Rods are hanging both ways, and up out of the way. Less than $20 for this masterpiece.

Stop by Haddrells in mt p and look at the hand crafted overhead rod racks that some one makes. I was given some by my son and they work great. I have an house on stilts and they keep rods dust free and work well.

Bought 10ft pieces of 1x2 and 1x3 fir strips. 3 inch x 3 inch 90 degree metal brackets. 1/4"x 2 1/4" bolts with nuts. 3 inch HD wood screws. Located the ceiling rafters in garage. Made a 4’x8’x1.5’ box frame with a center stabilizer and screwed it into the rafters with 6 of the 90 degree brackets. Rods are off the floor (translate = no bumping, carddoor, bikes, lawnmower, beach chair…accidents).
