Dorado bump and troll

They fight pretty well for a small fish and are fun to catch esp. on light tackle. Not to sound crazy, but they are not that bad to eat when fresh. Don’t bother filleting, just steak them out and marinate how you like. Then cook on the grill. Discard the copious bloody tissue and you end up with 4 somewhat small medallions per steak of essentially tuna, almost a four-leaf clover of tuna. You can also cut out all the bloody bits before cooking, and this will make the flavor a little milder, though it is a good bit more difficult than doing it after cooking. Also, I would say that fresh little tunny cooked as above is a good bit better than yellowfin that has been vacuum-packed in the freezer for three months.(personal opinion)

I have caught a ton of those when living in Eastern NC and trolling close to the beach for spanish and kings. I moved to Sc and have just recently started fishing Charleston. I have only been inshore (Wando trout fishing) and was wondering if you can catch bonita and spanish inside the harbor or between the jetties in the summer? Also do kings ever come in between the jetties?

Thanks
Rick

Caught a nice 19lb king in between the jetties about 15 years ago. We were on our way back in and still had lines out when my then little girl got sick over the side. As soon as the lure past through the uhh (don’t mean to seem insensitive) chum slick. Wham.
