Double Skunk

Headed out to Bushy Park. Forgot my frozen bait, so I was depending on some bait fish in the cast net. Caught 1 mullet in the net. Didn’t see any bait fish running. Paddled for 3 hours before I packed it in.

After a recharge (lunch), I decided to give the Wando River a go. Put in at Daniel’s Island Waterfront. Again, no bait fish. Water was really murky in the Wando.

Got about 5 hours of exercise on the kayak and a big fat GOOSE EGG!

I don’t fish artificials all the time, but I will say that now is a great time to start using them. The next time you put in on Daniel Island, paddle up river and try some points around creek mouths throwing your favorite jig-grub combination, or try matching bait color to the water color.
There are several folks on here who have the artificial thing down to a science. Check out some of Optiker’s posts.

I’ve been stubborn about live bait, but I think I’m going to have to keep artificials with me. Thanks for the tip.
