Double swing and a miss....

hit the flat last weekend and saw a dozen happy fish. First one was real shallow working towards me and slightly right. perfect cast…boom hookup…fish turns and pulls the hook.

The fish just keeps on tailing so I cast again. Boom 2nd hook up…fish turns and after 3 seconds of running the hook pulls again.

First time I have every hooked the same tailing red twice and happen to miss him both times.

And yes, my hook was still sharp. oh well!

Maybe next time. Thanks for sharing man

Same thing happened to me Saturday, I swear. Same fish, two eats, spit it both times. I don’t know what that’s about. The second take, I watched him eat it from 15 feet. Cool nonetheless.

what are the odds? yeah always cool watching them eat regardless. been over a month since I had been out so was still happy.

This fish was only like 21" or so, a young pup. I was shocked to see him start tailing almost immediately after I yanked the fly out of his mouth the first time. Two more casts and he turned and ate it again, but he wasn’t aggressive with it, like he was gumming it.
