Looking for somewhere to take my son to shoot some birds next season. We used to have friends with large properties in Hollywood area and we could do the " Gentleman Hunts " . Late afternoon / Saturday shoots with small group, not far from home, and not having to pay big bucks or lottery hunts or public hunts. All the building and construction has taken most of those spaces away. Willing to pay small fees to shoot some and build some comraderie. If anyone has any ideas please share!

Dear trae…I’m sure you expected more reply’s, but the simple fact is that dove clubs have filled their memberships by the 4th of July. Your best bet is to go to the SC DNR website and review their public dove hunts. Several are specific to Youth Hunts, and they have meticulously maintained fields. I have hunted these public dove fields all over the state, and many a fun and successful hunt was there to be had. You’ll find a few opportunities to join local dove clubs posted in the classified section of the Post&Courier newspaper under the Sporting Goods column, but you will need to look for those starting in June. Craig’s list may be another resource. You may want to consider joining an organization like Ducks Unlimited, SC Waterfowl Association, Quail Unlimited, etc. to network with other bird hunting enthusiasts. Working at the committee level of these good organizations will allow you to “earn” the trust and respect that goes a long way towards an invitation to join a good dove club. Good luck.
