Everybody on time and away from the Dock at 4am. Only made it a short distance and decided to see how well the new four blades on the Down and Out would hold up to a rock bottom - not very well - OUCH! Shortly after that adventure we lose a running light and Doc wearing his headlamp performs some emergency surgery and the we are finally underway! Hit the Jetties with what seems like half of charleston and realize it is a “little” bumpier than the forecast!! With high hopes we continue undeterred south of the 226 hole making it just a little after daybreak and notice we are alone. Before getting all the lines out we have the first dolphin in the box and continue to pick at them over the next few hours before calling it a day. Finished the day with 7 dolphin, 2 slingers and 5 gaffers! Highest water temp was 76 and didn’t catch enough to have a hot color! Wasn’t terrible until we reached the Ledge and it got snotty!! You kind of need one of these days every once in a while to truly appreciate a Good Day! Another GREAT day on the water with GOOD friends!
Good that you guys found some fish. We went out Wednesday in a very confused sea to find steady five to seven footers. Hard fishing, but ended with two out of five on dolphin. We did also have four rookies that day and two got their first mahi… could be a lot worse
