Anyone ever replace wire with floro carbon for the down rigger. Heard it makes less noise and harder to see. Thanks for your input.
Out Riggins & Down Riggins. Just so you know, it’s “riggers”.
Really? It’s a joke. So your “that guy”.
No…simply didn’t get your joke.
As for being “that guy”…really just wanted to be sure you knew the difference before you got into a conversation with someone who thought you were a dumb ace. Just trying to help there captain.
You must have a big wallet for fluro on a downrigger??!! Heavy braid instead of wire or cable
You know I have thought about this for a few minutes.
Here I am trying to help. On this end I don’t know if you actually know what you’re saying or not when you post. So someone tries to help and be sure you use the correct terminology. And the thanks they get is a “so you’re THAT GUY”.
No gratitude out there these days.

I personally have never seen anyone rig with fluorocarbon. I have seen some rig with regular mono, but that’s usually tournament king guys who evidently are too lazy to reel the ball up after getting a fish on. You used to hear of some broken spools because of the mono, but I haven’t heard of that in a while.
I do know of some folks who use heavy spectra.
Thanks for the help. I understand were you are coming from a little bit. I tend to joke around a good bit.
people do not use mono or flouro because of the line diameter. the additional diameter will add more drag and pull the weight further behind the boat. braid or cable has smaller diameter so the effect will be less, plus there’s no reason to be stealthy with a 5+ lb weight hanging down there.
True baracuda. True! Thanks
300 lb clear mono works pretty good…if you have a drag problem you are trolling too fast for live bait unless they ar hearty
