Caught them today on the upper end with downrods. No takers on planer boards or free lines for the first two hours so I switched it up and went deep. Had 4 fish on at a time at one point.

How big were the fish? We caught all of ours today on planers, corks, and freelines with none on downrods-- around 20 keepers. It’s always intriguing to me how everyone’s experience on the water can be radically different. I heard one angler say one time, “be doing what you do best when the bite is on.”

All were keepers except for 1 or 2. Biggest two were both 10 lbs. Just couldn’t get the fish to come up for me so I figured I would come to them. Very interesting day on the water for sure.

How many did you end up catching? You should’ve fished the MSC tournament. You would have won.

My fish wouldn’t eat live bait yesterdayou! Caught 1 30" fish on a planer about midday and a couple shorts. Even tried the downrods and nothing…Boy but they ate spoons:stuck_out_tongue:…we finally pulled everything in and started with the spoons. Crazy day for sure. This was my screen for a constant 10-15min. Then would they would leave and move 100yrds or so and have to find them again.

Cuaght around 10. I’m not sure if you can fish MSC TXs if youre not a member of the club. If I hadn’t switched to downrods though I would have come in dead last I know that much haha. All in all very weird day on the lake. Whats that weird black square doing on your coordinates Murrymaker??? Lol

Catching keepers wasn’t a problem at all yesterday. We wound up catching keepers everywhere we went yesterday. Boards and free lines produced for me. We didn’t catch a single fish on a down rod till we hit a late school bite in the evening after the tournament. The bite came on a variety of bait for us mongo gizzards ,small gizzards and herring all produced. We fished mid lake to stay away from the boats
Congrats on a nice creel! The 2 fish we weighed were 7.62 and 7.61. No wonder we had to guess which on was bigger on the culling beam. 15.23 was good enough for 7th and to keep us 2nd in TOTY by points. However, Rocky Bottom finished 3rd yesterday to tie us. By virtue of their performance yesterday, they get 2nd and we get 3rd for the year with the tiebreaker. We’re still happy.
Good to know the spoon bite is also working well for stripers Chip!
