Dr Von Lehe Tourney this past weekend..

Have been so busy this year, I’ve been able to sneak out on the water only twice all year…Had a small window to fish Saturday and wanted to support the Dr. Von Lehe tourney…he was my doctor and friend. I could only fish from 6-12 Saturday…here’s the delayed report of how it went down:
The tourney was all length based and was catch/release…picture of your longest trout/red/flounder with winners in each plus an aggregate division as well.
I caught bait friday evening and got all my tackle/ice/rods all ready to go for a 545 departure saturday morning at the hwy 41 gas station. My sister and her bf were also fishing it with me…well…we spent a little too much time at the local watering hole friday night and all three of us slept through our 515 alarm…woke up at 630 and hauled butt to the landing…first lines in around 7. Fishing 4 rods with blue crab/fresh cut mullet…lines out, finally catching our breaths from the rushed morning, getting some tunes going…etc…when captain novice pulls up within 10 feet of me and works on anchoring up…the ENTIRE river was open, and he wasnt even in sight when i got to that spot…was a pretty bold move…the only thing he said to me was “what you guys using for bait”…i shouldve said “night crawlers” but I was in a good mood i guess. I figured that I was evidently in his only spot in the river, we pulled 3 mid twenty inch fish out of there and left…it got annoying when his bobber would drift within feet of my rigs…left him to his spot and headed up past park west to some other spots…I managed a 28" red pretty early on there and decided that was a decent entry for the red category, besides, I was hoping for an entry into the grand slam entry…so now on to find a trout…it was about 9-10am now and the winds started blowing, it was actually pretty chilly out. Rigged up some grubs and hit a creek where i got some trout last summer…within minutes i landed a 17.5" trout…again, i was pretty happy with that for my trout entry…and we went looking for a flounder to

Nice report bubba. Good day.

Well written and good report. Congrats!
