Been 4 times this year. Went the week after opening and decided to wait until they grew up a little. Have been 4 other times. Once the tide was WAY wrong a couple of weeks ago. Regardless…it is what it is. Between the high winds the last few weeks on days when the tide was right so I didn’t go and me coaching football and other events to deal with we didn’t make nearly as many trips.
4 trips
3 full coolers, 1 nearly full (7/8 or so)
Headed back down tomorrow late afternoon for 1 more trip to the honey hole before packing up the nets for another season. Hope you guys have had as much luck as we have. It’s been a blast the few times we’ve been able to get out!! I’ll let you know the final tally after tomorrow night…if I remember to get back on here.
I’ll try to remember to. I typically don’t take my phone out on the boat, but I’ll do it today and see about getting some. Shrimp aren’t huge but I’d say they are as big or bigger than usual where we go…probably 30 to 40 count. Mixed bag. Perfect for what I do with them…which is …eat them…lol
I’ll see what I can do. My 18 yr old son is going with me today…first time he’s been this year because of work and school. I’m fired up. I might actually be able to sit in the back of the boat and drink a beer this afternoon.

Can you plese let me know the exact location of said “honey hole”. Terrible year so far and I promise I’ll set my poles up at least 20 20 yards from yours! I’ll be out tomorrow as well so what’s the big deal!
Here are a couple of videos for your enjoyment. Swansea wanted some pictures. I have a few pictures on my phone, but these videos may be better. My son went with us last night. Here is one of him and me throwing the net. We started throwing the net last night about 4:00 PM (early prevening in the words of Dr. Sheldon Cooper) and pulled the poles at 8:30…just before dead low tide. As I said in another thread, the secret to our success is we start throwing the net and don’t stop til the cooler is full. We don’t throw the net, drink a beer, throw the net, drink a beer and talk for 15 minutes, throw the net, drink a beer, fall out the boat, etc.
Anyway, here are the videos. I am open to critiques of our net chunking but…I do have 4-7/8 coolers on 5 trips using our technique.
Very nice. Your season was much better than mine. I have to locate me a honey hole. I’ve been just going to crab bank and the mud flats outside of Shem creek because it’s close to where I keep my boat, but that’s not getting the job done. Grats on the shrimp!
The aggravating thing is, my buddy’s brother went down yesterday around noon, coolered out in less than 2 hours on the incoming tide…pulled the poles and went home before 1:30 PM…that’s life in the big city.
