Has anyone ever messed around with a dredge cam? I would love to see what all is behind the boat while trolling. Any recommendations on where to purchase one?
This video was taken in 65’ last year, we were drifting, not trolling though.

There are a few threads about making one on hulltruth.

I have used the troll pro in the dredge. Battery life on the go pro isn’t that long and then it takes a long time to scroll through footage to find any action.

Ever get any good footage?

X2… this is what most people find out soon after they drop a bunch of coin on a troll pro

We’ve had good luck with our version of the troll pro. The video from my earlier post was in murky water, sometimes its clear sometimes its not. We built our own housing for less than $30.
The legs are detachable and a weak point (in case it gets hung up below). The stand is held on wire ties and can be removed if we want to drag it behind while trolling or drifting.
This past season we ran a thin shielded coax inside a nylon rope and made a rudimentary antenna that’ll broadcast the wifi signal topside so we can watch live. Makes for a quick check if what you are targeting is in the area or not or to verify structure.
Having clear conditions makes it really work well. Some days you get lucky and get results like this:

No, only used it a few times. Had one blue in the dredge, came in a few times but the batter had died. Most all the cool footage you see on the dredge cams are from places they see 10+ fish a day lots of opportunity for everything to line up.
Figured as much. Got an old Hero3 and was toying with the idea of using it for a dredge cam, but it does not sound like it is worth the trouble.
