Dredging at S End of Daniel Island

There really is a big pipe underneath those two dimly-lit floats, leading from the markers to the island and on up the bank. It’s down deep, tho, until it get ashore. Slightly related; anybody fished near that barge? A few years ago, there was a barge there, and it was a good flounder and trout spot. Curious to me; they are loading what looks like fine gravel off the island by conveyer to barges. Seems to me they would be pumping dredge spoil up onto the island…? How did that gravel get there? wierd…

The stuff coming OFF the island is for filling in the new port just a couple miles up the Cooper. I work on the old Navy base and have been watching them fill it in for a while.

thanks, xman,
I knew somebody would know what was going on (or off). There’s always something going on in the harbor, the rivers, channels, etc. Great place to live and be on the water!
