Dreher Island

Going up to Dreher Island and putting the kayak in to do some fishing. Where around Dreher is a good spot for fishing? I was gonna try to hit some docks with some plastics and maybe try to get some bream, but I don’t really know the lake that well. Anyone have any spots they are willing to share?

When leaving the marina store, if you make a left away from the big water back in that creek, there are some good docks and a few bridges that are good. I think quite a few largemouth tourney have been won fishing back there. If you keep going it gets shallow, and their is ski slalom course setup in the back. The stumps and creeks back there are good early morning and late evening. It’s about a 3 mile trip from the marina all the way to the slalom course. You probably don’t need to go that far to find fish, but its a good direction to head. I would not turn right towards the big water, or really try to cross the big creek at Dreher. Lots of idiots out their in go fast bass boats busy playing with their GPS running 70 mph to worry about yakers.

So, leave out of the marina and head back up towards the frayed knot restaurant area? I won’t make it all the way back there but I assume that direction is where you’re talking about?

Docks early morning and late evening for bass. There used to be some small islands in that part of the lake where we used to catch a ton of Shellcrackers too. Also, anywhere you see a point sticking out can be good for those.

I wouldn’t hesitate to drag a few live herring behind while paddling either. Or at least a ratltrap or 2. With the cooler weather the Striper have moved back up to the surface some, and early morning you could easily land one slow trolling.

Thanks for the help guys. I’m going to go out after work today and see if I can’t get on some fish!
