driveshaft radial movement?

i have an older evinrude and when i was servicing the water pump i noticed the upper driveshaft had alot of radial movement. i removed the dearing to inspect but couldnt find a smoking gun. i believe with the lower unit removed there is only a thrust bearing and a radial bearing just below the water pump so i could understand how the driveshaft would “wiggle” a bit but how much is normal?

doug deeper and the upper and lower driveshafts are connected with a flexible coupling. its a non issue

correct, the driveshaft on the omc can even be removed by just “snatching” it out. They wobble a lot when not connected.
