Dry Stack/Marina

Me and my husband are looking to get a 21ft bayboat and want to dry stack it. We were looking at Rivers Edge Marina. We are new to the area and this site, so does anyone have any input on them or have any other suggestions? They seem to have good prices and a lot to offer. Thanks.

Congratulations on the boat purchase and have fun with it and be safe!!
We looked at Rivers Edge as well and thought it was a very good facility. It was a little too expensive for us however. We also have two friends who have stored their boats at Rivers Edge, 22 and 24 footers. They like the facilities. But their major concern was the small space allocated for loading/launching boats. They had a hard time pulling into the loading area especially with the fast currents that are common in that area. Both of them decided to switch to another marina. So, when you get your boat, see what it’s like to maneuver your boat in the loading dock area before you make a decision.

good luck!!

check with Sea Breeze marina downtown, nice facilities, not too crowded, good staff. Parking can be tight though. It puts you right in the middle of Charleston, Ask for Trey

I have had my boat at Riversedge for the last 5 years or so. Top notch facility and great staff.

I have never had a problem with the launch area. On the very busy weekends when a lot of the dry stack boaters pull their boats out they will have staff stay until way after dark and past traditional closing hours to make sure the dry stack boaters can get their boats back into the marina. And when I come up the river I see the other marinas with their doors closed, so I assume this is not standard practice for marinas.

I have never looked at another marina and never plan to. The other boaters who keep their boats at Riversedge, the staff and the facility are exactly what I want in a Marina.

Been at Riversedge for 5 years. Great staff and management, clean facilities. The tides rips through the marine, which make docking a challenge sometimes. All in all it has been a great experience.

Glad to hear the good things about Rivers Edge. About to put my boat there next week. Have been doing the trailer and ramp setup for years.

I am a bit concerned about such a large facility with such a small marina. They must manage it okay because I don’t hear many complaints. Looks like I am about to find out.

We just moved to the area as well and began storing at RE a few months ago due to price and location only. It is for sure tough manuvering when current/wind don’t want to cooperate. I have a 20’ and they gave me below 20’ cost. They mentioned they allow ‘some’ 21’ boats to do that as well. Hit 'em up for it, it’s worth a shot.

I’ve only had a few months experience but disagree with SalesFish. I’ve pulled back in around 3pm more than once and seen my boat still at the dock the next morning driving to work. They do a pretty good job at loading you on-time though.

Nothing to do with RE but the fishing (according to things I’ve read on here) and crabbing (I know from experience) aren’t great on the Ashley due to water clarity. It’s a quick ride to the Harbor and Shem area though, that’s always fun.

I’ll be looking elsewhere next year just to make sure it’s the right place for me but all in all pretty happy.

I have been there for a couple of years and getting ready to go back. Never had any issues. It is a challenging area but that is based on skill. The dockhands can move them boats anywhere. I will say there were many times where I just tied it up where I could easily get to and they moved it for me. Everyone is real nice and laid back.
