Dry Stacking at Rivers Edge (Duncans)

I was thinking about dry stacking my boat for the next 6 months here. Anyone out there done this and what was your experience good and bad? Would love to know before I buy about the headaches and the things to look out for.

They are great people to work with. I haven’t kept a boat there, but know owners that have. They have all seemed to be pleased.

My buddy that I fish with keeps his boat there.
I haven’t heard any complaints…great group of guys.

We kept our little Scout there for a while until it sold. Very nice people and cheap ethanol free gas.

You ought to try to squeeze in at Magwoods. It’s practically right on the Harbor. Where you live might be a factor though. It was a tough decision for me. River’s Edge is much closer to home and VERY close to work but a long way from where I like to boat/fish. Everything in life seems to be a trade off. I opted for less of a boat ride.

kept my cabin cruiser there for two years. Tracy and the crew are wonderful. Trailered my bay boats but going back to larger center console and will keep it there.

Its all relative

Tracy is great. You will be happy there with the exception of the long ride to the harbor. Not a big deal unless you fish offshore a lot. If you do, then look at a marina that is closer to the harbor. Dodging crab pots in the dark at 4:30 in the morning is not a whole lot of fun. Plus there are some nice hairpin turns you have to make to stay in the channel. Again, not a big deal but gets old if you are funning hard in the dark.

This will be my 3rd season at Rivers edge. It has been a terrific experience. It is a bit of a run to the jettys if your heading offshore, however the great service, and cheap fuel more than make up for the run. The other boat owners are great, dock hands are friendly, and the amenities are clean.

I don’t know if someone mentioned this but they have non-ethanol fuel at Duncan’s which is a big deal in my book.

Only negative is the current is really really strong. Get good bumpers

I have kept my boat there for two years in dry stack and would not think about going anywhere else. Ethanol free gas always. Extremely clean facilities. The dock hands and Riversedge people are a great group.

The other boat owners are great. Super friendly. Everyone gets along real well and they are always willing to lend a hand.

I would recommend going down to the Marina on a warm Friday or Saturday and you will see what I am talking about. Hang out and grab a beer.

Over the last couple years I know that more than a couple boat owners that have cancelled their marina and have come to join Riversedge. I would hate to get stuck somewhere that didn’t respect my boat or my time (by not having my boat ready when requested.) The ride is a little long to the jetties, but the other boat owners and Riversedge workers make it worth it.

That is why I will keep my boat at Riversedge. This place is great.

I am going down in the morning to check this place out.I have only heard good things about River’s Edge.My only concern is the ride out to the jetties. However it will save me about $125 a month.

It is a hike to the jettis - no doubt about that. If you are fishing offshore, look elsewhere. You will spend $100 in gas too and from. If you aren’t fishing offshore much then don’t worry about the ride.

12-13 miles end of jetty, short no wake from 17 bridge past marina, avoid a lot of ship traffic, only day markers in river above 17 bridge, great service and price on fuel. I’d be there but I can’t beat the deal I have now (from private owner)

I had my boat in a wet slip there for a few summers a number of years ago. Had to have the boat put in dry stack for a couple of days for a quick repair. The people there were great. The only thing I noticed is if you are going to work on your boat in dry stack it’s hot as hell in there and (at least when I was there) a lot of dirt flew in there from the highway. Otherwise a great facility.

I keep my boat in a wet slip at RiversEdge but several friends have their boats dry stacked. It’s a great place, friendly, helpful staff. I am satisfied and my friends with dry stacked boats seem satisfied. Some have been there ten years or more.

Well I bit the bullet and am going to try the place out. I fish offshore about 5 to 10 times a year depending on the weather and I do think it will be a bit of a ride to most places that I go so thats the only negative that I have but a positive is the fact that i live less then 5 miles from there. I am gonns try it for 6 months and see how it goes. I used to just put in a waphoo and run out so well see how much time this adds to the trip.

If the ride becomes too long where else are you guys dry stacking thats gets you out there quick.

Magwoods on Shem Creek. Great guys and just not that far from N. Chas. I’d much rather drive my truck or car from NC to Shem Creek than my boat.

It might add to the “boat” time, but how about the overall time? Hooking up the trailer, driving to the landing, waiting in line, launching, parking, and then the reverse when you get back.

I predict you’ll like it just fine.

I use the landing next to Rivers Edge all the time. It is not a bad ride out at all…count on an extra 20min compared to Wappoo.

If at first you don’t succeed, drink another beer!!!
