I have a Wilderness Tarpon 140 and love it. The only draw back seems to be the two to three inches of water that sits in the bottom of the yak. Yes, it makes for a great live well, but my feet are little water logged after many hours on the water. Besides loosing weight, does anyone have any ideas on how to achieve a dryer ride? I was thinking of temporary plugging the forward drain holes with some sort of rubber cork. Has anyone tried this or think it’s a bad idea?
Yes I have had the same problem. YOu can go to lowes and in their hardware department they sell rubber stoppers. All kinds of sizes. Just measure the hole. The stoppers are in the drawers with all the different bolts and what not.
The best thing I have heard of is foam practice golf balls. You can get them at walmart or most golf outlets. They seem to fit the Tarpon scupper holes perfectly. Much cheaper than the factory plugs.

yeah. exactly what D said. i have a t140 and i’ve had my holes plugged w/ the same set of yellow practice gballs for well over a year - the rubber scuppers work far less effectively
I have the same problem… I am going to try the golf balls idea… I haven’t had any water roll into the yak yet, I just get wet from the holes… Thanks for the great idea!
I don’t lie about the fish I catch… I just remember them bigger…
Thanks for the hint DD. I bought a set of eight balls for just over three dollars at the local Wal-Mart. They installed with a tight fit very easily, and look as if they will do th job. Hope to test the water integrity of the plugs tomorrow evening at Bushy Park. Maybe I’ll even catch a fish or two.
