Does anyone remember the big 20ft commercial Duracraft boat. The one some crabbers use to have. I have one and it had a 50hp on it that is now junk. The 50 was definitely inadequate for the boat. It does not have any sticker or tag that has recommended HP. All it has are tags that state commercial. Have a 150 that I am thinking of putting on it but not sure. It is a heavy wide boat and I think it will handle the 150. If anyone has a suggestion or any info I would like to hear it before I put the two together.
I’ve been on a 18’ extra wide sea ark with a 90 horse evinrude on it. Would run around 50 mph with a bunch of oyster picking gear in it. My main concern would be turning it at a high rate of speed. Flat bottom boats tend to want to slide around a corner and when/if they catch instead of slide have a tendancy to flip or sling your @$$ out the boat. Good luck! Pair them up and take it for a spin you can always take it back off lol!

I tried to google a 20 duracraft and found this:

I think an illegal alien wrote the description, but it says it has a 90hp on it. That would seem more appropriate for a 20’ aluminum boat than a 150. There’s a 147lb difference between those 2 engines (Yamaha, 261lbs vs 426lbs).

Commercial rating so no problem putting the 150 on. Put it on, insure it and take it out for a spin. If the stern sits to low for comfort, get a set of planing pods.

The harder you work, the luckier you’ll get.
Thanks for the boosting my confidence. Hi-c my boat is nothing like the one in the pic. Imagine a work boat, super thick aluminum, built up in the back like a ship. Has back deck with seats mounted to it and a small deck in front. The rest of the boat is open. I believe the boat needs a 150 and so do several friends. All they say is (**() that is a big azz metal boat with that tiny azz motor. So the old bass boat motor will ride on the back when I get the controls for it. Probably won’t be trimming it to much.
i think i know what kind of aluminum boat you speak of and that sounds like a good match up. I love the description of the other boat above. i gotta get me a Yamaha 3 stroke electric outboard.
