Anchored in a ripping tide beside red can. Reds hit hard once tide started to turn. Put a 32", 34" and 27" red in the net. Boats close by were were doing the same. Great day after a horrible night of shrimping
Just figured out how to add pictures
That first fish is fat, What kind of bait did you use?
Wishin I was fishin.
All cut mullet on the bottom. Lost a nice spanish at the boat on live menhaden.
We fished the inside of the jetties (a first for me in my boat). Nothing spectacular, a large ray, 8 endangered BSB’s, a toad fish, some whiting and a nice black drum. Besides the handle on my less than year old Battle 4000 breaking, we had a fun day. I would love to put my son on a couple of those big reds.
Keep trying, He will be able to get one soon. Past couple of weeks I have caught 2 or 3 above slot when the tide turns at a few different places. It will cut on for about an hour and then shut off.
Can’t be positive, but I suspect the fish in the first photo has a bloated air sac. If that is the case, it most surely will die if not vented. I know the depth in the dynamite hole can be over 50 feet in places, if you pull one from that deep it most likely will need to be vented. Learn how to do it, it’s not that hard and it will help to insure we have this kinda fun for years to come.
Tight Lines and great photos of some happy fishermen. Caught some pigs myself over the weekend at the infamous grillage.

You are correct Mr. Fritz, holding a BIG Red toward the vertical is not good for them, especially when using a Boga because it can flair the gills rupturing blood vessels. However, I have learned better since that photo was taken a few years ago when I was just starting to fish for Reds. Since then I have educated myself by listening to my son’s advice (a Marine Bioligist) and seek to help others understand better ways of doing things. I appreciate your helpful insight and I will consider changing my avatar to not set a bad example.
I also know fighting a Redfish too long will fatigue them and no matter how you handle them once boat side will not reduce the likelyhood of a high mortality rate. I wonder , as a guide, what you do to prevent that since it is likely many of your clients are inexperienced anglers and may play a fish a long t
I fish with 30 pound test on tld 20’s to hopefully keep the fight as short as possible.

Good to know you have given some thought to that.

The site states pics have to to 500kb or smaller. After a lot of failed attempts I found were to change the size. It you right click on the picture and select edit, there is a re-size option. I kept trying sizes until I got images close to 500kb. They are a little big, so will try a little smaller next time. There is probably a easier ways to do this but I am a one trip pony and frustration was setting in.

I will look into that. I want to keep them around as long as possible. I have my first child due in a few weeks and I want him to be able to enjoy these fish as much as I do some day.
Might wanna blackout the scenery as people will know where you were fishing and steal your honey hole…
I learned the redfish holding techniques after I posted a big one. I use never hold them vertically anymore. Nice fish.
Is that a lighthouse in the background? NOW I know where you were fishing.
I think the word on Dynamite Hole got out a few decades ago. I think it is marked on the state map.
Yeah, kind of my point. I have yet to figure out what kind of font to use when expressing sarcasm.
I thought Bonzo was supposed to be working on that.
The hard part is trying to figure out how to profit off of said font. Everyone would use it.
