Had a tough day over the weekend. I found thousands of menhaden off Morris early in the AM. Got about 50 in two casts. Went straight out to the jetties and fished with the wind (slack tide). Numerous boats ran by me and kept swinging the boat around with their wake. Pissed me right off. Literally 8 hours later of nothing I hit the bend at the south jetty and came up with this slob red.
Slack tide anyone? Seems to be more difficult to fish.
Taking my son out there Wednesday before he heads back to college. Hopefully we can get him hooked up
Wahoo 1750 Offshore Johnson 100GT. “Spurs Up”
Good luck tomorrow. Tides look good. Menhaden should be schooling up between the lighthouse and submerged jetty in 8-10 ft of water before 9am. Send some pics of a big bull!
Both bulls were on last 3 hours of outgoing tide. Live mullet and live pin fish did the trick. Only thing that hit cut bait were sharks. One ate through 3’ of leader in seconds with the reel free spooled with clicker on.
King fishing tournament this weekend. People catching menhaden, then hauln ace right by you at the d-hole would be normal to get out farther to catch kings
