Does anyone have one that’s no longer needed or know where to get one cheap? The daughter wants to quit smoking and I’m all too happy to try to help.

Cold turkey. The only way (IMO) to quit is just stop it all together. When a person does the patch, e-cig, chantex, etc … all they are doing is putting quitting off. I’m speaking from personal experience.
If a person really wants to quit, it can be done. No different than quitting drugs or alcohol, it has to a sincere life choice. It’s a nasty habit and one I utterly enjoyed back in the day. Grand parents started smoking at age 16 when they were married and did not stop until they died at age 92 & 94 of Renal Failure and Pancreatic Cancer.
Now that is over, I wish your daughter the best of luck quitting. It will be the stressful moments and being with others that smoke that will be the challenge. I wish my older son and daughter would choose to quit.
Good luck to your daughter Carolina coot!
Thanks Fred, I quit in 1990 but some people don’t have the will power. She has nerves of steel but can’t just quit flat out.

As Fred said, cold turkey is how I quit too. The person has to really want to quit and most of it is mental. If they can get their mind off of smoking or not smelling smoke, it helps out a great deal.
IMHO Cold Turkey is the only way to quit a very NASTY habit. When you use another substance to get off one substance then you need to quit that substance. The E-cigs/patch/gum still gives you nicotine. And to use a anti depressant to get off nicotine then… well you know one drug for another.
I quit in 2007 and have never looked back. I have never been better.
Going to Church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.
You are the offspring of 5 monkeys having But Secs with a retarded fish squirrel. CONGRADULATION!!!
Cold turkey - there is a reason you see E-Cig smoking lounges opening up… people end up hooked on them.
My last go round (cigars), I used the gum to quit. I used the gum for over a year, then started smoking cigars again - and chewing the gum. I had to go cold turkey one the cigars and gum…

I switched to ecigs about two years ago. I really enjoyed smoking. Now I really enjoy “vaping”.
Switching to ecigs exclusively is a commitment that has to be made. I had to tell my brain that the ecig was going to be it’s only source of nicotine. Cigarettes gross me out now. No way will I ever smoke another one. I don’t have a problem with others smoking, but I will never go back to “analogs”.
I don’t cough up a lung in the morning anymore or get bronchitis three to four times a year either. In fact, I haven’t gotten bronchitis since I switched.

I repeat what others have said. Don’t waste your time. Quite cold turkey or keep on puffing. Everyone I know who has tried the shots, gum, e-cigs all still smoke. I made the decision 10 years ago to stop after smoking for 8 years and never looked back.
I can still enjoy a cigar once every 6 months or so and never have a craving for a cigarette.

They didn’t have e-cigs when I quit, I threw out a half a carton and never looked back. It was hard, especially when I was driking a cold one but, it’s been nearly 30 years. So glad I quit. With that being said, has she looked into hypnosis? Don’t laugh. Vinman and his wife both quit last year after undergoing hypnosis.

Just cleared the 3 year smoke free hurdle myself!! The key to a positive “Quit Smoking” campaign is you truely, deep down, have to want to quit!! If you dont, nothing will help. I believe it was Samual Clemmons that said “Its easy to quit smoking… Staying “quit” is the hard part!!”… Good luck to her!!
A bad day fishing is much better than a good day at work.
I agree about quitting cold turkey. I smoked for 27 years and I woke up one morning and decided to put them down for good. I found the best way to quit is the power of prayer. I prayed about quitting smoking and it took time but I finally got to the point where I didn’t want them anymore.
I used the patch to quit 15 years ago. I only used it for about a month then one day my daughter and I went fishing and forgot to put it on. I never used it again and I was a heavy smoker, 21/2 packs a day. After I quit several years later I watched my Dad die gasping for breath because of those (**() things. That will inspire you to stay on the wagon. Besides I don’t think I could afford to smoke now.
Coot, I don’t know where a used one is, but will ask around.
As far as her quitting, good for her for at least trying, no matter the method. She has shown strength by acknowledging the need to stop. No one goes anywhere without a first step. Some step in different directions.
I agree with the cold turkey way…IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE, SIMPLY CHANGE YOUR MIND! Our minds are the strongest part of our bodies. Make your mind up and stick to it! 30 years of smoking, and one day I was just over it.
Amazing how much more money we have to do other things. $50 bucks a week was a bit much.
I agree with all of you about cold turkey but also know it isn’t gonna be easy for her. Thanks 7cs, Pitviper I know how hard it is to staying quit. I quit in 1990 and still want one after a good hot meal or a couple of good drinks. The wife smokes and could care less. Smokes in the van and in the house. Off limits in my truck period and off limits in the new car for as long as I can keep it that way. My daughter works with a bunch of guys and of course they are all smoking around her.
