Stopped by the ramp early this am. On the way home they were putting out a sign advertising e-free gas now at the gas station near the ramp. Not the Exxon, but the one near Yacht Cove (Citco?). Didn’t pull in to check the price.
Exxon at hwy. 1 and I-20 has it for $3.79 cash. I buy mine there, I have tested it and it IS ethanol free. I know that Exxon is not convenient for everyone, just trying post helpful info.

I know most of you guys are over in Lexington but if you are in the Chapin area, the Get-n-Go at the corner of Wessinger and 76 has non-e for $3.69…or at least it was last week.

The shell station at better bait has E-free 87, I think it’s 3.69 and you get a few more cents off if you pay cash or debit. It is the pump on the side by Bentley’s
The Mobile/Pit Stop on the corner of Old Cherokee & Old Chapin also has E-Free for $3.79 …
I think JC’s (378 & Shore Rd (Koon’s Landing) also has it for $3.99 …
… it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish !!!

Rick, I was going to post about the station at the intersection of Old Chapin and Old Cherokee, but I couldn’t remember the name of it and I go by it all the time. It’s tuff gettin’ old. Starting to suffer from CRS disease.

Bowhunter, how did you test that the gas was ethanol free?
I’ve often wondered if I’m really getting what I pay for when I put it right into the boat. When I put it into a portable container for my lawn mowers and weedeaters (has ethanol ate up your gas line yet?- If not, it will soon!) you can smell a huge difference. It’s like what gas used to smell like back in the old days when I rode mini bikes and go carts as a kid and would spill it all over the place. Strong.
I have something similar to one of these http://www.michiganmotorz.com/ethanol-fuel-tester-p-1073.html?gclid=CNmUm-3Ytb8CFabm7Aodi1oAQg. I actually got mine as a free give-away at an auto show, but any kind of clear tube will work. Very simple to use and can actually tell you the percentage of ethanol in fuel. Basically, you fill the tube halfway(to mark) with water and the rest with fuel(to another mark). Shake vigorously and then allow to settle out. If there is ethanol in the fuel, when it settles out, there will appear to be more water(above the fill mark) than what you started with. It happens pretty quickly. If your tube is graduated, you can calculate the percentage by measuring the difference before and after. Here’s a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbDAw4a6Ck0. I always test a new source of E-Free gas and will periodically test past sources just to keep them honest. I have seen reports of E-Free gas having as much as 25% ethanol in it.

A $5 item that costs $15 to ship?? I will pass!
I would expect anyone would pass unless they just had more money than they know what to do with! I did not suggest that anyone buy it! It was for illustrative purposes only so that he could see what I was talking about! That is not the only source for ethanol testers. You can get them at places like Northern Tool, auto parts stores, etc., or you can use any kind of strai
