EAGLE VS. OSPREY - UDC - 6/3/13

We pulled out from the Marina and saw an osprey grab a fish. An immature eagle attacked him, making him drop the fish. The eagle grabbed the fish, the osprey attacked the eagle and made him drop it. And a pelican won the battle.
Michael caught this nice Red. then we dropped out and caught a mess of Whiting for Supper, and released several small Sharks.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Watching those wildlife shows, they say that that is the typical food rotation for fish hunting birds. The original fish changes hands more times than I would have ever guessed. The pelican in the mix is definitely new to me, though. :sunglasses:

I’ve seen this in the Tail Race during the shad run. It’s pretty fun to watch.

Nice red.

My dad and I watch the same thing in the Wando last year and thought it was the coolest thing. Glad to know it is common tho.

Wishin I was fishin.

Awesome! One time i saw pelicans diving on bait and when they would come up sea gulls would land on their back and peck their head until they dropped the fish and the gull would get it. In this world, if you arent a person, it is usually every man for himself. Of course, there are exceptions.

If you are a person, it’s generally every man for himself too.

I saw this thread and thought I’d share this pic my brother sent me that one of his friends took last week. Thought this was really odd to see one on the ground like that in someones’s yard. Tried to zoom in, but the resolution isn’t real good…best I can tell it looks like a trout that he has?

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Not if there is water and fish nearby. Cool picture, though.

PS We had to stop construction one year because, ‘raptors’ were feeding their young in the yard. Only stopped work for a couple weeks. No one complained.

May be a Mullet.
