"Earl E Bird" 7-13-2016

Have been trying to catch a slick calm day to go daytime sword fishing, but the wind just hasn’t let up for a while. Reefcast showed a day calm enough to go trolling so off we went. Hilton’s showed a lot of hot green water. Ocean was a little sloppy to start off but not terrible. Crossed the ledge at the 950 line and never fished shallower than 225’. Fished mainly between 280 and 400’. Green water with reed grass in it. 84.5 degrees. Had a couple of cut offs early, caught one wahoo and another one rolled behind boat and pulled hook. Caught one sail, missed 2, and had another not bite. Action was better than I thought with all the green water. Maybe we can get a good northeaster and shove some pretty blue water back on the ledge and catch some fish. Wasn’t the greatest of trips but it was good to have the dredge out and be on the water. We will be back at it soon. Not much of a report but that’s all I got. My 11 year old got to catch the wahoo. It was great watching him today, he didn’t care that water was green and things were slow, all he knew is that we were trying to catch a billfish and got to see a sailfish get caught he was just as happy as could be. I am truly lucky.

Love it

Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.
