Eastbound 7-26-02 Bottom fishing

Great day on the water with friends, but I made a bad move early in the day that cost us. It goes back to lesson 101 of fishing. Never leave fish to find fish. Spoke with Courtland on Thursday and he pointed us in the right direction to the mother load of triggers and ARS(Thank you). 98% were short, but in 2 hours we probably pulled up 15 - 25 along with everything else. Bait of choice was cut bonita strips.

Started in 85 - 105 ft of water, and decided to run over to the snapper banks and try some ledges. Didn’t pick up much of anything but a cobia. B-liners were all small, and everyone on board was glory fishing. I was wanting to see what the new precision auto reel could do. Loved the outfit, but you will pull some hooks using it. It seems some bottom species don’t stand a chance anymore. I had a few come up spinning like a boat prop.
