After months of talk, I finally got Courtland (AKA: Stoner) to leave his reliable Yamaha powered Contender at the dock and ride with me. Will Guscio was also along for the ride and another friend, so I was looking forward to seeing what the North Hole had to offer. Also, Will’s photos.
After an easy ride out we pulled up some numbers and found the bottom machine lit up. Caught numerous AJ’s, 2 gag’s (short), 3 ARS (short), monster B-liners, black sea bass, and a box full of triggers. Bonita were boiling on the surface most of the day, so we played with them for awhile too.
Decided to call it around 2:00, and headed for the house. What looked like a short hour ride home ended up being a 3 hour tour. While passing the Ross my starboard motor decided to blow.
did you have your camera on repeat mode where it takes like 6 pictures one right after the other. because it looks like the dolphin are taken almost on film. nice amberjacks they are some fun on light tackle.

“The charm of fishing is that, it is the pursuit of what is elusive, but attainable; a perpetual series of occasions for hope.”
Gulf AJ’s…EXCELLENT tasting…Atlantic AJ’s…VERY VERY strong fishy tasting… The equivalent of eating a MUDDY catfish…Not to mention I just can’t force myself to eat something that has worms from Head - Tail…They are mostly in the tail region but are still dispursed throughout…After fileting the fish and hours later the worms are still moving…Couldn’t make myself steak them up and throw em in the freezer so I dumped all 20lbs of filets in the dumpster
I don’t know if you noticed it CT, but some of those AJ’s starting swimming sideways after they swam through Wills Fire Fly chum slick he laid out. Especially after the 4th time over the rail. If anything, it provided for a good laugh.
