Im in the process of finishing up the wiring for my stereo system but cant figure out whether the black or black and white wire is the ground on the speakers. Any ideas???

Most of the time I use the Stiped black wire as the (+) wire and the Solid Black wire the (-) being thats the color of my other ground wires if it makes sense.
That ain’t so Easy, because I don’t know the answer:smiley:
Solid black is the ground, black with white stripe is +.

Are you talking about the wires that go to the speaker cones? It makes absolutely no difference. Sound is AC, not DC. If you use the same color for +/-, you will be fine with either choice. In fact, you can switch the colors (black + on one, black/white + on the other) and not tell any difference.
But the “standard” choice is to use the BW wire for + and solid black for - (NOTE: - (minus) is not “ground”, just the other side of the speaker coil)

I respectfully disagree. Even though the speakers will still function, they will be out of phase with each other, greatly reducing the sound quality. Any audiophile can tell the difference. I’m tone deaf and can’t carry a tune in a bucket, so it probably wouldn’t matter a lick to me, but for the discriminating listener, phase matters.
