Wanted to get some oysters. Got there at the perfect tide and got almost two bushels of good looking stuff. Brought the rods and cast net for giggles. Caught some eating size shrimp just throwing the net in a creek. Lots of bait shrimp as well. Ended up catching one keeper trout some shrimp and lots of oysters. Eating good tonight!
How do you go about picking the oysters? Low tide, oysters under water, above water?

saltwater fishing license covers oysters. 2 bushels per person per day, not more than 3 limits per boat, & can’t harvest more than 2 days out of 7.
I love me some of nature’s razorblades!
You can also be in a state shellfish ground. All grounds can be found here: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/marine/shellfish/shellfishmaps.html
Thanks chevy and mirax! I often wondered whats was up with those signs that say ‘state shellfish something something’ and the actually have a little arrow pointing the “legal” direction I assume?!

exactly. I filled up my livewell with saltwater and a little bit of ice to keep it cold. They were delicious. So was the trout!
