Eclipse Fishing

Who’s going offshore on Monday to get away from the inshore eclipse madness?

Planning on leaving Edisto around 5:00

Make sure any fish you catch do NOT stare at the sun.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?

Hopefully the fish will cooperate, I’m excited to see their response to the moon and shade.

I would love to know how it went if anyone cares to share!

We left out of Wappoo about 6:30 and ran south to about 95’ on some live bottoms. I was surprised how slow the fishing was, expecting the eclipse to have them jumping in the boat. We ended up with two nice reds (safely released to hopefully catch again next summer when we can keep one or two), a nice mess of bsb’s, vermillion, triggers, and joltheads. Of course there were a few aj’s. With three of my six passengers nearly laying in the bottom of the boat sick, we headed back in to the 60, mostly to watch the event. There was another boat fishing there, both bottom and with a couple king rigs out. They had no glasses so I gave them several I had left over and we all enjoyed the show. It was a nice run back in until we got back into the craziness in the harbor and back at the ramp. The group had a great time but the three were most happy to have their feet back on land!

Wahoo didn’t cooperate early so switched to bottom quickly. Prospected some new areas to the north, ran down south to get into the totality line.

Ended up with a nice box of bottom fish.

There were a few storms up our way so it got really dark and was neat to see mid-day.

We saw some free jumping sails and what we assume were sails pushing bait just after the eclipse.

Ended the day with 3 wahoo 2 phins! Double header of hoos During Totality, only two of us on the boat! Boated both; made for a fishing trip we will never forget.
