Edisto 10/5

Made first trip to coast Sat. Between work and the shrimp reports just held off the first couple weeks hoping for better shrimp. Got to the honey hole at 2:30 and set up. Waited 20-30 min and did a run. 12 shrimp. Waited between runs. May have had a gallon by low tide at 3:45. Went to a shell bank and fished for 30-45 min to let the tide start back moving. Re-baited - worked poles until 9:00 at almost high. Had about 4 good runs all day. Then got a NADA run. Made about 10 runs total. Time to go - pulled the poles. Ended up with about a 1/4+ cooler of mixed sizes - mostly medium???
Was a big new moon tide - beautiful weather - setup on a spot where we get full coolers 90% of the time. At a loss on what was up - must have been barometer falling or something? Normally if we cover the bottom of the cooler or have maybe 1/4 cooler by sunset then we cooler by 8:30. After the sun set they never came in. Talked with some others at landing that were out closer to the ocean than us. They had about 1/4 as well and about the same size?:face_with_head_bandage: Will try again in a couple weeks.

I came to the conclusion long ago that it is just more cost efficient to buy shrimp for this same reason. I like to come here to the shrimping forum hoping to read that you guys are coolering out and tearing them up. Sure hope your next trip produces for you!!
