Edisto 60 - Wintertime Nearshore fishing

Have not spent any time out past 40ft in the colder winter months. Most of my time out at the Edisto 60 or various other nearshore reefs are from spring-summer targeting Cobia, Aj and King Mackerel.

Thinking about taking a trip out there sometime this December.

What hangs around during the colder months. I’m sure the typical BSB and other bottom fish are around but anything that warrants running past 4ki and the other closer reefs?

Appreciate any insight. Wanna make sure I have the right gear prepped to make the trip worthwhile.

You could find some vermilion out there. Occasional red snapper.

It’s a big ocean past where your fushing. Last time I was out there…they wasn’t any fences. Anything can show up.

Live bait flat line and one deep just right…you can catch anything that wants to eat.

You right on the tackle…you ever caught a bluefin? Me neither. I believe they are around…in the winter. What is the temp?

Temps got to stay constant to move fush. High low. Have fun and be safe. You dead quick in cold water.

Or that’s what BONZO says.
