Decided to believe the best of the 4 forecasts I checked and go look for a wahoo, a couple of tuna and a sailfish. Ride to Edisto banks was beautiful. Lines in at the ledge were greeted by 1 decent slinger and a couple of short strikes. Found lots of birds and tuna busting and managed one 16 lb blackfin before heading deeper in search of sails. Trolled past a nice looking tree root in 200’ and loaded up on peanuts which we were busy tagging and tossing when the shotgun goes off. 10 minutes later we get all excited because our mystery fish is joined by another about 100’ behind the boat. Get the pitch baits ready! Turns out this is about a six foot shark who starts to chomp on our 40 lb wahoo! 2 bites and a tug of war later we manage to retrieve @25 lbs of hoo on a mono leader. Not sure this really qualifies as a slam but since it was our first wahoo in 2 years we were happy. Rest of the day we had 2 more nice wahoo? runs and tagged a few more peanuts. Ride home sucked.
