Worked from Edisto Banks out to 350’ and back. Early in the day there where a few scattered weeds, a couple good temp breaks, but no good weed lines. Hooked up with a nice sail early on the first temp break. We released the sail along side the boat and never out of the water, strong for another day. A few minutes after releasing the sail the port squid chain starts screaming, then gone, clean bite through the 200lb leader. While the squid chain was screaming the starboard longrigger pops and is screaming. At this point I was thinking / hoping Wahoo, but the fight changes from a screeming run to a steady pressure, so AJ or Shark?. After a long fight we finally see the dorsal fin and tail, it’s a Bronze Whaler shark.
Steve - first time offshore and first fish a nice sail. And please hold your comments on our make shift Fishing Harness. The real ones spent the day hanging in the garage… You have to forget something!
Worked a loose weed line later in the day but no dolphin headed to the hill at 2:30pm. No meat but a great day on the ocean with Bud and Steve, with Steve stealing the show on his first trip offshore and first offshore fish was the sail followed by the shark. Good first trip on my new (new to me) Triton.
