Edisto Banks June 10th

Got to remelys 4:15 AM and realized I had forgot my gaff. Thank you “Gut Rench” for coming through with the borrowed gaff. Had plans of fishing straight out on the ledge. 25 miles out the skies ahead looked a little challenging so I punched in Edisto Banks and headed South. Lines in 7:30 AM in 210’. 5 minutes later we are hooked up with our first bill fish ever. My buddy did a great job getting her to the boat (his first offshore trip out of Charleston) and the hook was promptly removed. Fish was revived a little, and she swam off into the blue. No other bites for the next 45 minutes so I started heading in a little shallower. Found a nice rip with a forming weedline. Started working it in 190’ picking up dolphin and a 15 lb wahoo on a pink and blue islander sailor. Ended up in 160’ when my two crew members engaged in a conversation about the pink and white islander in the prop wash. Seconds later a nice wahoo crashes the bait right before our eyes and starts to run. Got the fish to the boat and in the box after a nice fight. Picked up a few more dolphin, while releasing a few slingers. Lines up and headed in at noon once the winds started to pick up. Last 20 miles got a little sloppy but not to bad.

Nice day WD, glad you got your first billfish on the boat!

Nice job! Glad them guys had fun.
