Left the Yatch Club around 5:30. Went straight to the banks, water temp about 66. Drug baits ‘til we were convinced of no fish. Headed out to 1000’, temp about 72.5. Still no fish. Ran up on the big weed line and had a few knock downs, but nothng staying on the hook. Did see a boat pull in a couple slingers when we passed. Headed over to 226, still no fish. Plenty of fliers out there. Saw a couple Mola Mola and sea turtles. Started getting a little nasty, so headed in. We’ll give it another week or 2 and hit it again. My excitment of the day was getting stung by a wasp 50 miles offshore, who’d of thought?
No I don’t think I would have wanted to be in my boat Friday out that far. I was in a 25’ Contender. Thought the waves were going to break over the side a couple times. All in all it was a good learning experience for me, so I was glad to be there. Learned how not to catch fish…kidding. That was the first experience with outriggers for me. Always wondered how all that worked, now I know.
a good day on the water with a safe return with friends is better than any ****tee day on land. Thanks for the report, that just means that next time you’ll catch’em double…

That was 2-3’ @ 7 seconds. I thought the Keywest was good for 6’ers.
Sorry about your luck, it happens.
Rolling swells man not a wind chop and it was bigger than 2-3’ at 1000’ by the afternoon. Actually it calmed down to 2-3’ about halfway back 'til we hit the washing machine near the harbor. I swear some people!!
Thanks for the sympathy though. It did kind of suck not hooking one at least.
Hope you’re right on that KW225. I’m always happy to have a nice day on the pond, fish or no fish. Sure beat the chit out of being at work. The weather was great just a little breezy.
Good report! Boy was it rough near the harbor. We were farther north, it was rough there too. We put 1 dolphin and 1 tuna in the boat. Lost 2 and had 3 lures cut off. They hit the main line, probably 20 feet in front of the lure. Go figure.
Sounds like ya’ll had a little excitement there Brian. Congrats on what you did catch. Yeah that chop at the inlet seemed to be coming from every direction. About normal though. Always seems to kick up right in there then calm down once you get out a bit.
