Edisto Beach Fishing 9/29 & 9/30

I have been reading these reports for several years but this is my first fishing report. I was raised in Mt. Pleasant but now live in Charlotte, so don’t get to fish in the low country very often.

My brother and I fished on and near the S. Edisto last Saturday and Sunday. Fished the last of the ebb and start of the flood both days. Picked up quite a few small trout (biggest were 16") right before low water. All caught on Trout Tricks in deep water. We started fishing a Trout Trick on one rod and a live shrimp on the other rod. Trout Tricks out fished live shrimp so we switched to Trout Tricks on both rods. They really do work!

We saw one tarpon jump clear out of the water (South Edisto open water)and two others come part way out of the water. (No they were not dolphin.)

After the tide hit low we headed toward a creek both days and fished for reds around oyster banks. Picked up a few small reds each day, two slot reds and one that measured between 27" and 28". Reds all caught on live (or at least whole) shrimp and mud minnows.

We did not get much in the way of pictures but did manage to get the ones shown below. It looks to me like we will have great trout fishing next year - if we can keep all the little fellows alive through the winter.

Nice report ORM
