Fished the Edisto dolphin tournament Saturday. So thankful for the nice weather. Had a great turnout with 45 boats participating. Decided to head south to get away from the 90+ boats fishing out of edisto and Bohicket. Was looking for 75 degree water but came upon a weed line in the cooler water and stopped and got two small dolphin. Picked up and headed out to the temperature break, nice jump up to 75 over a short distance but no action. Got another dolphin in 450 ft, then a foursome around 1400ft. Thought we had cracked the code but it slowed down until we trolled back in to the break where we picked up a few more. Ended up with 13. Had 5 fish around 20#, the biggest 24, which won the lady angler award for my 13 yo niece and was just a couple of pounds shy of third place Money overall. Ocean was very nice all day. Ran back at almost 40. Enjoyed a few cold beers at the awards ceremony. Lots of fish caught but not much size. Overall dolphin was 35ish and wahoo was 28. Same boat won overall tournament, dolphin Calcutta, and wahoo Calcutta taking home over 12,000$. Can’t remember the name of the boat.
Was a great event with a long of boats and spectators. Brian and Becca have done such a great job since taking over the marina last year.
