Hey, I will be down to Edisto this Veterans day weekend and am looking for some advice. I fish the area several times during the summer but this will be my first time down this time of year. I have read quite a bit about the bull redfish bite and the trout turning on, but any advice will help. Not trying to steal any spots, but any general advice such as baits and depths to fish at will help. We fish out of a 17 KW.
The fish were really biting around Edisto before the big cold front and we found a few this past Monday but it was harder. Even with a dramatic change in temp, from 72 to 60 just over the weekend, we still found shrimp in our regular spots so hopefully they will still be there when u come down. We also continue to use finger mullet and grubs or trout tricks with some success. If not, I had no problems finding mud minnows that I caught one the colder days last weekend just in case there was no bait to be found. We don’t particularly change spots this time of year, the usual docks and oyster beds, deeper troughs with current, etc. I will tell you we don’t sit in any place for very long, might fish ten to fifteen minutes before we move and keeping moving until we find the fish. If you want more specifics, you can pm me but you should do fine. Good luck.
