Does anyone out there know what the best river level needs to be for the best fishing. The river level at Givhans Ferry as of sat 4/27 was at 5.02 ft.
Tks in advance for your replies…

That’s a tricky question. I’ll have to say that the best levels would be to have the river up for complete year to replenish all the fish that were lost to the drought levels.
Honestly I’ve caught fish with the water at all stages, except flood stage.
May 24th might be a good time.

I rode to the river sunday afternoon and it was running fairly strong,
as per the post and courier the level came down about 6-8" in 24 hrs even with the rain we have been having.
I have fished the edisto a little but not in the past 6-8 yrs but I will be there on the full moon…
Tks and good luck on the upcoming spawn…

We tried them for about 1.5 hr last weekend. Didn’t even get the bait stolen. Tried for 30-45 min on 13th an nada as well. Water still chilly. We are a couple miles above Stokes Bridge. Full moon in May is the ticket. 25th Warmer weather will get them going shortly.

The best time to go is always…when you can! Sorry about being a SA. Outside of flood stage, there are always spots that will produce if the temperature is right. These obviously change with water level. It is easier to handle the boat and fish when the water is lower. Water flow is still below the long term average…check out http://waterdata.usgs.gov/sc/nwis/uv/?site_no=02175000&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060,00062,72137.
