i was driving home from hunting a couple months ago and heard a song on WLRE radio in santee. the song was about the edisto river. the chorus went something like, “oh edisto, oh edisto, your secrets are yours to keep”. does anyone know who sings this or ever heard the song before? i’ve searched the web and can’t find anything.

I know the song…Woodie Wyndam plays it on 98.5 in the Columbia listening area…I would call tomorrow but he is out for surgery this week.
May be that Sugar Ray knows and will play it …its not on the internet though. I will call him in the am and see where you can get a copy.

I think my uncle wrote/plays that song that you heard on the radio. That was a long time ago. I’ll see what I can dig up. Do you know anymore of the words? I think it was called “Oh Edisto”, haven’t heard it since I was a kid.

His name is Ed Langston and the name of his band was “The Gone Brothers”.

Great toon with an “Island” flair, good boat music on a hot summers day. Would like to get a copy of the song. Compensation , maybe in the form of a beer or two in Edisto? Will be in town starting Sunday night.
We’ve got it on tape somewhere. I’ll see if I can digitize it. I don’t think you can even buy their stuff anymore.

My late father grew up in St. George / Reevesville area. Ive heard him tell stories of fishing and swimming in the Edisto River. No doubt there’s been a song or two concocted up by those whove found peace, happiness or love along its shores. Its a long river thats been around forever…Im guesssing its touched alot of souls.

Ripete Records has that song on one of their Beach Music CDs.
