gonna try for some reds in the grass, taking advantage of the high tides this week. I am planning on fishing/paddling the flats behind the campground with the gulp baits and live mullet.
I’ve seen the tails but never actually hooked one like this. So, if ya’ll want to give me any advise or a better place in that general area, I would appreciate it.
thanks
Miserable weather, no fishing or yakin. Gave up late last night and came home after canopy blew into my truck leaving nice big dent. I am so sick of this wind.
Cut,
You stay at the campground? Seems like theres no sites available on weekends unless you reserve. Wonder if they take walk-ins or if everything is reservable?

State parks started reservations this year in Mid-Feb. They save a handfull for walki-ins but not many. They book thru ReserveAmerica. Holidays are gone. Lately you go two or more weeks out you’re ok. The week of - forget it. Not sure how it will be once school lets out. At least you know if you have a spot before you go. That waiting at the Piggly Wiggly at 5:00am in Edisto really sucked.

Scott, I know this is a little late for your trip but the best thing to use in the flats is a spoon. Not your dinner spoon but a gold a silver, weedless spoon. There is also a spoon called the Red Ripper which is a great lure. Make sure that you watch the red and find out which way he is pointing, throw past him and keep the spoon 2 to 3 feet out in front. If you get it too close he will easly spook.
This thing people call work has kept me from going the past couple of weeks. The tide and weather are starting to look better so if you are still up for the excitement let me know and good luck.
Correction!!
That is a GOLD OR SILVER spoon
Thanks Keith, I am going back to the campground May 23 and 24th for the flood tides. Come on out if the weather is decent, I’ll be by myself in site 24. (pungo 140)
