Editsto trout 10-17

After loading up on shrimp Thursday, Dad and I decided to try a little inshore fishing. Went prospecting along a long oyster bank using the trolling motor. I was throwing a TT and he a live shrimp under cork. Tons of bait all around and what looked like larger fish feeding on them. Finally got a trout on the trout trick. Dropped anchor and started catching them on the TT. Finally told Dad that he could either change to the TT or watch me catch trout all day. Ended up with 16, 8 legal. Also a slot red and a barely legal flounder. Went out front to try for a big red but no takers. Caught more weakfish than I can count. Beautiful last day of what turned out to be a long vacation between jobs. Back to work Monday. It took 22 years but we finally got back to the lowcountry.

Would you mind sharing where yall were in relation to the marina?

We are generally fishing the mouths and major creeks coming into the south Edisto like St Pierre on stretches of live oyster rakes. We troll along casting until we get something, and then stop and work that area. Most action has been on incoming tide, middle third. The bass are up on the oysters. Lots of he trout are off a little ways. We fished some of he same places the following day and hardly caught anything so you have to kind of get lucky and find hem hungry.

Great report, are those blue crabs or stones? Heck of a welcoming home I’d say.

Nice post. Glad you did well. I fished some of the same areas on the Sunday and Monday before you fished. Caught a few fish but did not do nearly as well as you did. Beautiful place to fish. Don’t know where you have been for the last 22 years but welcome back to the low country.
