A tough day fishing loves company.
We did have a double hookup that went 0/2 because we blew it.
One of the dolphin looked like the size of our bathroom closet door as it aired it out before it threw the hook.
Made it tougher.
We missed that early bite and headed home around noon, as always … lying to ourselves that we would have smoked em had we stayed.

We caught one that big fishing for yellowtail last year in the keys.
“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?
I’ve caught an elusive, single, expensive fish numerous times.
Same goes for shrimp. I’ve had some price-per-quart trips nearly equal some folks’ car payments.

We trolled along that same weed line with you around 10:30 but could only pull 2 off of it, headed deep and found our fish in 600 ft of water

We managed 6 decent phins, lost two. Ocean was gorgeous, last ten miles back not so much. We never went deeper than 400 ft. Most fish in the 375 ft area.

After reading everyone else’s posts, I don’t feel so bad. Maybe it was slow for most but this was my boat’s (and my) inaugural trip offshore with little knowledge. Pulled out of Bennetts Point at daybreak and we managed 3 in the box from the Edisto Banks area. Fished 200-300 from 9:30-12:30 with a triple hookup that consisted of a pulled hook, a breakoff from my drag mistake and a nice cow. 45 minutes later we had a double hookup with a small cow and a nice bull. Came back to try some bottom fishing which netted very little but, all in all, had a fantastic day. First blood on the deck and fillets for supper. If the picture turns out, this is the bull. He was mostly white. I’m hooked and can’t wait to go back. Thanks to y’all’s knowledge on here and Thank you, Mr. Keelin for the awesome rigs!
