I catch them on a consistent basis from July to Novemember throwing a castnet in creek mouths from midtide to low. I also get a lot of pinfish and silver perch as well…all good baits.

Hairball, I also catch spots this way and the small fish I always called a yellowtail, are these the silver perch, as I never used them for bait and are they pretty hardy when using as bait? Thanks
You can’t catch fish on a dry line
Yes same fish. They are a little less hardy than spot. I hook through the nose sideways so they can keep their mouth open and last a little longer. Same with the spot. Everything else I hook through both jaws from the bottom.
