I had a jack stand that was a time-consuming bear to crank up and down. I tried 3 different swing-away models, even the expensive dual wheel swing-away made of aluminum, but none would fit my trailer with enough room to swing up.
At the Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic, my ole buddy CJ Driggers, EStore manager of Lee Transport on Bluff Road in Columbia, had this electric jack stand on display in his booth. I had to have one, so I got him to send me one with the trailer side mount adapter. The jack comes with a trailer plug wired for a standard 7-pin socket style connector. The power comes from the unused (usually) accessory circuit pin. I ran a single #10 awg all the way to my truck battery and fused it at 25 amps for safety.
Man…this thing is the cat’s meow. No more cranking up & down. The unit, rated at 3500 pounds, even has two small switch controlled lights for coupling at night. It does not pull much amperage, as I ran it up and down after installing using a 12 vdc 1 million candlepower spotlight battery I use to test trailer lighting!
The unit comes with a hand crank if the power fails and a flat stand plate. I went to Tractor Supply and bought a jack stand caster for $9.95, so I have a wheel on mine.
No…I’m not lazy…just tired of that relentless cranking up & down! This thing is heartily recommended by yours truly. $135 for the unit, $32 for the adapter plate. CJ will ship to you from Lee Transport’s online store for a small additional fee.
